24. Jacob J. WALKER7 was born on 18 January 1799 in Stony Creek Township, Somerset Co, PA. He died on 15 July 1881 at the age of 82 in Shanksville, PA. In compiled genealogies, he is known as Jacob (III) Walker. It is believed that he went with his family to Stark County, Ohio but returned to Somerset County, PA in about 1832. He was a cooper (barrel maker), a deacon and elder of the Lutheran Church, and a "sound Republican in politics, and a highly respected citizen." Catharine FRITZ and Jacob J. WALKER were married on 16 November 1818 in Paris, Stark Co, OH. There were 14 children of this marriage. The birthdates of the children are taken from the contemporaneous Family Register (Familien Register) which used the surname spelling "Wacker" until 1830 and the spelling "Walker" thereafter. Seven of those children were still living in 1899. 25. Catharine FRITZ was born on 4 February 1801 in Brother's Valley, Somerset Co, PA. The contemporaneous Wacker/Walker family register gives her date of birth as 4 February. The other "birthdate" found -- 19 April -- is likely her christening date. She died on 17 October 1896 at the age of 70 in Somerset County, PA. On 20 Feb 1848, she married Tobias Glessner in Shanksville, PA. There were two children of this marriage. | | vi. | Elizabeth WALKER11 was born on 7 September 1828 in Stony Creek Township, Somerset Co, PA. She died on 7 April 1890 at the age of 61 in Somerset County, PA. In 1848, she married William Hunter in Shanksville, PA. There were five children of this marriage. In 1855, she married her brother-in-law, John J. Speicher in Shanksville. There were no children of this marriage. | | vii. | Dinah WALKER12 was born on 7 April 1830 in Stony Creek Township, Somerset Co, PA. She died on 12 January 1897 at the age of 66 in Somerset County, PA. On the family register, her given name appears to be spelled "Denean". On 30 Jan 1851, she married Jacob J. Glessner.
