48. Jacob WACKER17 was born on 10 December 1770 in Leitersburg, Fredrick Co, MD. He was baptized at Zion Reformed Church in Hagerstown. He died on 28 August 1843 at the age of 72 in Paris, Stark Co, OH. In the compiled genealogies, he is known as Jacob (II) Walker. He used Wacker as the spelling of his name until his death, although all his children anglicized their names to Walker as they became a part of the new English public school system of Somerset County in the early 1800s. In 1827, Jacob's sons Jonathan Jonas and Mathias (aged 20 and 18 respectively) pioneered the Walker farm in Paris, Ohio. Their father and family followed later (c 1832?). Mathias remained in Ohio where he raised his family. Jonathan Jonas returned to Pennsylvania with his father. In his later years Jacob returned to Ohio. Catharine MARKER and Jacob WACKER were married on 24 September 1792 in Brother's Valley, Somerset Co, PA. 49. Catharine MARKER was born on 1 March 1775 in Brother's Valley, Somerset Co, PA. She died on 2 May 1857 at the age of 82 in Paris, Stark Co, OH. Children were: | i. | John Henry WALKER was born on 28 January 1793 in Somerset County, PA. She died on 22 September 1887 at the age of 86 in Summit Township, Somerset Co, PA. On 26 Apr 1818 she married William Miller (1796-1850) in Summit Township. There was one son of this marriage. In 1851, she married Jacob Lichty. There were no children of this marriage. | | iv. | Maria Creta Margaret WALKER19 was born on 6 April 1803. She died on 13 June 1826 at the age of 23 in Paris, Stark Co, OH. In 1823, she married Jacob Knepper in Paris, OH. There were two children of this marriage. | | v. | Elizabeth WALKER20 was born on 14 August 1804 in Brother's Valley, Somerset Co, PA. She died on 18 March 1888 at the age of 83 in Goshen, IN. On 17 Oct 1824, she married Michael Miller. There was one child of this marriage. | | vi. | Jonathan Jonas WALKER21 was born on 12 October 1807 in Stony Creek Township, Somerset Co, PA. He died on 30 October 1849 at the age of 42 in Shanksville, PA. On 16 May 1830, he married Mary Polly Braugher in Stonycreek Township, PA. There were four children of this marriage. | | vii. | Mathias WALKER22 was born on 29 April 1810 in Stony Creek Township, Somerset Co, PA. He died on 24 September 1876 at the age of 66 in Osnaburg, Stark Co, OH. In 1829, he married Elizabeth Baughman. There were five children of this marriage. | | viii. | Philip WALKER23 was born on 26 April 1813 in Stony Creek Township, Somerset Co, PA. He died on 2 June 1898 at the age of 85 in Paris, Stark Co, OH. In 1834, he married Elizabeth Pore in Paris, OH. There were eight children of this marriage. In 1851, he married Hanna Walker in Paris, OH. There were no children of this marriage. | | ix. | Catharine WALKER was born on 1 July 1816. | | x. | David WALKER was born on 9 May 1820 in Stony Creek Township, Somerset Co, PA. He died in 1865 at the age of 45 in Iowa, Somerset Co, PA. He died as a result of swallowing a needle baked in a biscuit. He married Elizabeth Mohl in 1840. |
