6. Acisclo PEREZ was born in 1834 in Ponce, PR.¹ According to the 1897 census, he was 63 years old. He died on 3 June 1898 at the age of 64 in Ponce, PR. His name is also spelled Asisclo. Araceli SANTAELLA and Acisclo PEREZ were married about 1859 in Ponce, PR. We do not know whether our Santaella family lived in Ponce, but there was at least one family of that name living there in the 1850s. But, since this marriage is not recorded in the Ponce church records, they were probably from another city.

7. Araceli SANTAELLA¹⁸ was born in 1842 in Puerto Rico. According to the 1897 census, she was 55 years old. In the 1910 census, her age is listed as 60. She died about 1920 at the age of 78 in Ponce, PR.¹⁹ She was buried at a small Roman Catholic cemetery along the road from Ponce to Adjuntas. She was also known as Mamaita.¹⁹ She was buried at a small Roman Catholic cemetery along the road from Ponce to Adjuntas. According to the 1910 census, her father was born in Spain (not Puerto Rico). Therefore, it is very unlikely that she is related to the Santaella family that married a Riera. She owned a female slave named "Manana" -- not the Spanish word for tomorrow.

	i.	Maria del Rosario PEREZ was born on 30 April 1860 in Ponce, PR.1,20 She was baptized on 26 May 1860. The 1897 census gives her age as 37. She died before 1910 at the age of 50 in Mallorca, SPN. She died relatively young, shortly after the family moved back to Mallorca, Spain. Her three children were returned to Puerto Rico and brought up by their aunt Aminta in there, with whom they lived in 1910, according to the census. She was also known as Rosario, Saro and Sarah. 3	ii.	Maria Guadalupe del Carmen de Jesus PEREZ.
	iii.	Aña Aminta "Aminta" PEREZ was born on 26 July 1863 in Ponce, PR.1,21 She was baptized on 28 Sep 1863. The 1897 census gives her age as 33, the 1910 census as 40. She died in Santiago de Cuba, Oriente, Cuba.
	iv.	Cruz Aracelis "Cruz" PEREZ was born on 1 June 1865 in Ponce, PR.22 She was baptized 30 Aug 1865. Godparents were her uncle Luis Perez and Ana Maria Echevarria. In the 1910 census, her age is given as 38. She died in 1950 at the age of 85 in Havana, Cuba.23 According to her granddaughter, she was age 86 at death.
	v.	Maria Josepha Aracelia "Maria" PEREZ was born on 17 June 1867 in Ponce, PR.24 She was baptized on July 17. Godparents were D. José Ybereria and Da. Rosario Perez. In the 1910 census, her age was given as 29, and she was living with her sister Aminta. In the 1930 census, when she was caring for her grand-nephew Willie Vicens, she gave her age as 45 ... that's a real stretch! She died on 15 April 1947 at the age of 79 in Ponce, PR. She never married. But, she brought up her niece's son Willie Vicens.
	vi.	Acisclo PEREZ was born in 1868 in Puerto Rico.1 This is the birth year given in his death record. The 1897 census gives his age as 20. In the 1910 census his age is given as 27 and he is living with his sister Aminta. In the 1940 census, he gave his age as 70. He died on 28 July 1944 at the age of 76 in Ponce, PR.
	vii.	Maria Araceli "Celia" PEREZ was born on 5 January 1873 in Ponce, PR.1,25 She was baptized on January 15 in Ponce, though records held by the Sambolin family indicate she was born in Mayaguez. Her godmother was her father's sister, Dona Josefa Perez. The 1897 census caused some confusion, where it seems to indicate her age as 22. But, old records checked by her daughter Josie Sambolin, confirm her birth in 1873. In the 1910 census, she gave her age as 29. She died on 6 May 1964 at the age of 91 in Ponce, PR. She died of a cerebral hemorrhage.
	viii.	Benito PEREZ was born about 1874 in Puerto Rico. He died after 1930 at the age of 56.
	ix.	Carmen Rita PEREZ was born on 2 June 1887 in Puerto Rico. At various times when she gave her age, the implied birth-year went anywhere from 1881 to 1888. The 1897 Puerto Rican census gives her age as 16. The 1910 census gives her age as 25 and she was living with her sister Aminta. At the time of her 17 Feb 1919 immigration to the US aboard the SS Brazos (with her nephew Felix Riera), she gave her birthdate as 03 Jun 1888. On the 1930 census she was living with the Ayala family in New York giving her birth as 1884, and in 1940 she lived on Long Island with the Riera girls and gave her birth as 1888. On a 1935 ship's manifest she gave her birthday as 25 Dec 1887. Here we are using the birthdate given on her entry in the California death register. But, we must take all the information about her age "with a grain of salt." She died on 14 April 1963 at the age of 75 in Los Angeles, CA. She is buried at San Fernando Mission cemetery.
