Third Generation4. Pelayo Félix Ramón RIERA was born on 23 April 1825 in Mataró, Barcelona, SPN.12 He was baptized in the Church of Saint Mary in the city of Mataró. Godparents were Gaspár Riera Confité and Theresa, the widow of Félix Arenas Pilot -- these were (I believe) his paternal grandfather and his maternal grandmother. The text of the baptismal record is as follows: Texto:Riera 554 B-28 Folio 166 V El ventitres de abril de mil ochocientos veinticinco. He died between 1880 and 1883 at the age of 55 in Ponce, PR. He emigrated from Mataró to Ponce about 1844. It is likely that his uncle Juan Arenas had previously come to Ponce and assisted several of his Riera nephews in their emigration. 1866 documentation shows that Pelayo Riera was a married businessman living in Ponce at that time. Margarita Eufemia DUBOCQ and Pelayo Félix Ramón RIERA were married on 12 April 1856 in Ponce, PR.13 In the marriage register he was identified as being born in Barcelona to Don Joseph Riera and his wife Doña Aña Maria. The family name of the mother of the groom, and the name of the father of the bride are not given (a series of dots are written in place of these names). The reason for these omissions is unknown. The mother of the bride is identified as Dona Modesta Roux, clearly making her a sister of Josefa Dubocq. 5. Margarita Eufemia DUBOCQ was born on 20 March 1841 in Yabucoa, PR. This birthdate was provided by descendants. A careful check of the baptismal records (FHL Film #1389645 Item 2 -- Yabucoa Baptisms 1838-42) did not locate the baptism of either Eufemia or her brother Antonio ... but the register was in very poor condition with major parts illegible due to tropical staining and insect damage. She died. Children were:
