6. János RIGÓ48 was born on 25 December 1822 in Csurgó, Fejér m, HUN.49 He died after 1891 at the age of 69 in Ádánd, Somogy m, HUN. Although his father was a farmer, at a relatively young age he became a grain merchant and then a miller and for twenty years moved frequently -- buying and selling mills -- until in 1870 he settled in Szabadhegy where he lived the remainder of his life. Below is a chronology of his travels: 1822 born in Csurgó (Fehérvárcsurgó, Fejér megye).
1847 living in Székesfehérvár, but married in Fokszabadi (Balatonszabadi, Veszprém megye).
1848-53 mill owner in Székesfehérvár -- Buzapincz #13.
1854-55 mill owner in Tés (Veszprém megye) -- windmill at Tés #138.
1856-59 uncertain location.
1858-61 mill owner in Buzsok (Balatonbuzsok, Veszprém megye) -- certainly 1860, possibly this entire period.
1861-62 mill owner in Csajág (Veszprém megye) -- perhaps longer.
1863-69 uncertain location.
1870-71 mill owner in Szabadhegy (Szabadhidvég, Somogy megye) living at house #18.
1872-91 remained as a mill owner in the Szabadhegy area ... in 1891 the mill he owned was probably in Faluhidvég. Over the years he may also have been involved with the family mill(s) in nearby Ádand. Eszter SZONDI and János RIGÓ were married on 9 November 1847 in Fokszabadi, Veszprém m, HUN.50 The groom was described as a merchant (kereskedö) living in Székesfehérvár. Among the witnesses at the wedding was Károly Meszáros, schoolteacher at Ádánd. 7. Eszter SZONDI51 was born on 11 March 1828 in Szárszó, Somogy m, HUN.52 At her baptism, as with those of her siblings born in this town, a delegation of area Reformed ministers acted as her godfathers. She died after 1875 at the age of 47 in Ádánd, Somogy m, HUN. She was confirmed in the Reformed church at Fokszabadi in 1839. Children were: | i. | Sándor RIGÓ was born on 22 November 1848 in Székesfehérvár, Fejér m, HUN.53 His father was identified as a mill owner and his mother's name was spelled SZONDI. He died on 21 December 1849 at the age of 1 in Fokszabadi, Veszprém m, HUN.54 He died at age 1. | | ii. | Eszter RIGÓ was born on 11 January 1852 in Székesfehérvár, Fejér m, HUN.55 Her father was identified as a miller, and her mother's name was spelled SZONDI. | | iii. | Katalin RIGÓ was born on 24 November 1853 in Székesfehérvár, Fejér m, HUN.56 At the time of her birth, her father was identified as a mill owner living at Buzapincz (wheat cellar?) house #13. Her mother's name was spelled SZUNDI. She died on 24 July 1854 at the age of 0 in Tés, Veszprém m, HUN.57 She died of "hurut" -- catarrh (respiratory inflammation). | 3 | iv. | Katalin RIGÓ. | | v. | Dániel RIGÓ was born (date unknown). In the 1880s he was identified as a miller in Ádánd. According to Jenö Nemes, he bought the family mill in Ádánd in 1900. | | vi. | Lajos RIGÓ was born in 1858 in Bozsok, Veszprém m, HUN. His birthdate is a problem. From his death in Csajag, his birth would seem to be 1860. But, since brother Laszlo was born then, there must be an error. He may have been born in Bozsok in early 1858 or the summer of 1861, when the records are missing. Or this Lajos and László were the same child -- with a name error in either the birth or death record. In that case, another László was born probably in the 1860s. He died on 9 October 1861 at the age of 3 in Csajág, Veszprém m, HUN.58 He died at age one year. His father was identified as a miller, and his mother's name was spelled SZONDI. His birthplace was identified as Bozsok. | | vii. | Lászlo RIGÓ was born on 6 August 1860 in Bozsok, Veszprém m, HUN.59 He was baptized in the Reformed church at Enying on August 9. He was a miller. He was married and divorced, and had no children. Later he lived with a woman known to the family as Lidia-néni. | | viii. | Mártha RIGÓ was born on 17 December 1862 in Csajág, Veszprém m, HUN.60 At the time of her birth, her father was identified as a mill owner living at Csajág #187. She died on 28 February 1871 at the age of 8 in Szabadhegy, Somogy m, HUN.61 According to her death record, she was a 9-year-old school girl, the daughter of the local miller living at Szabadhegy #18. She died of "tüdölobb" -- pneumonia. She was buried on March 2. | | ix. | Dezső RIGÓ was born (date unknown). He was a miller and owned the operated the family mills in Balatonkiliti and Magyaralmás. | | x. | Sándor RIGÓ was born on 6 April 1871 in Szabadhegy, Somogy m, HUN.62 He was baptized on April 8. In his baptismal record, the family name was spelled Riga. He served as a witness at the marriage of his niece Mártha Nemes. He was a miller owner in Inota. His wife poisoned him. He is buried in Szombathely. |
