Luis GONZALEZ was born on 25 April 1896 in Havana, Cuba. He died on 21 September 1961 at the age of 65 in Havana, Cuba. He was a Cuban diplomat from about 1920-30. He started his diplomatic career as a clerk at the Cuban embassy in Washington, DC. Later he was named Cuban consul in Philadelphia, Saint Louis, and finally San Francisco. He resigned from the diplomatic service to avoid being posted to China, since he had been diagnosed as a diabetic.

Back in Cuba, he became a radio announcer and sports reporter -- using the pseudonym "Conde Moré." He was also the official announcer at two Havana baseball parks. Since these jobs didn't pay well, he also sold structural steel for a large hardware firm to "make ends meet." But, he was very proud of the new car he purchased every three or four years.
