2. Gábor BERECZ was born on 13 April 1853 in Alsóság, Vas m, HUN.^7,8 He was not baptized until May 16. At this time, his father was the evangelical teacher in Ság, and lived in house number 176. Among his godparents were István Berecz and wife Susánna Somogyi of Ság. He died on 24 February 1933 at the age of 79 in Beled, Sopron m, HUN.⁹ In his 80th year, he died at 1 PM of heart failure. He was buried in the Beled cemetery on February 25. He was headmaster and teacher at the Evangelical School at Ostffyasszonyfa. Zsófia MÁTIS and Gábor BERECZ were married on 2 May 1876 in Beled, Sopron m, HUN.¹⁰ They were married by Sándor Farkas, the evangelical pastor in Beled. Witnesses at the wedding were: Elek Marton and József Vörös both large landowners in Ostfyassonyfa, and János Kozma of Beled.

3. Zsófia MÁTIS was born on 13 May 1857 in Beled, Sopron m, HUN.¹¹ She was baptized the day of her birth. Godparents were: Ns. Sándor Edvi and Sofia Talabér, polgár (citizen) Ferenc Illyés and his wife Rozina, the widow of Mihály Kosári, and Anna Horváth. She died on 1 November 1937 at the age of 80 in Beled, Sopron m, HUN.

Children were:

	i.	Rev. Gábor BERECZ was born on 16 March 1877 in Ostffyasszonyfa, Vas m, HUN.12,13,14 According to a notation in his mother's hymnal, he was born in the last hour of the day, on Thursday March 15. But, the birth was mistakenly recorded as taking place on the 16th. He was baptized in Csönge on the 18th. He died on 1 June 1968 at the age of 91 in Sopron, Sopron m, HUN. In April of 1968, he was hospitalized in Kapuvár. After release, he went to live at a Lutheran home in Sopron because his sons could not take care of him. [Gábor had just left his third wife and moved in with a woman in Budapest.] In the same letter Zoltán noted that his cousin Bandi couldn't take care of his uncle, since his (Bandi's) mother was very ill at the time. In a letter postmarked June 14, Zoltán Berecz said his father (Gábor, the retired evangelical pastor who lived in Beled) died on the "1st of this month" in a Sopron hospital. He graduated from the evangelical seminary in Sopron in 1895. For many years, he was the pastor at Nemeskér. Following his divorce, he moved to the Debrecen area. After retirement, he lived in the family home in Beled.
	ii.	Izabella BERECZ was born on 20 July 1878 in Ostffyasszonyfa, Vas m, HUN.12,15,16,17 She was born at 5 AM on Saturday morning according the the notation in her mother's hymnal. She was baptized in Csönge on July 28. Among her godparents were her uncle Ábel Berecz (identified as a lawyer) and her aunt Ilka Berecz. She died in 1968 at the age of 90 in Beled, Sopron m, HUN. She studied at the teacher's college of Györ, and was a teacher in the Evangelical school in Ostffyasszonyfa.
	iii.	[stillborn girl] BERECZ was born on 5 July 1879 in Ostffyasszonyfa, Vas m, HUN.18 She died on 5 July 1879 at the age of 0 in Ostffyasszonyfa, Vas m, HUN.19 The dead child was baptized and buried by the midwife, Ersébet Csöre, at the insistence of the distraught father.
