28. David LONG was born in 1871. Roxana "Roxie" IVEY and David LONG were married on 5 June 1892 in Halifax County, NC. They were married by James Jones, a Baptist Minister, in Weldon.

29. Roxana "Roxie" IVEY was born in 1874. Roxie's Death Certificate gives her father's name as Daniel Clanton, and her mother as Jackie Harris. According to the 1900 census, Gardner Ivey and Jackie Harris were married in 1876. The 1880 census lists Roxie as the daughter of Ivey ... presumably she was "adopted" into the Ivey-Harris(on) family. The records relating to this woman, frankly, are a mess. The scenario chosen for this database is the most logical rationalization of the six documents found: an 1870, 1880, 1910, and 1920 US Census, an 1892 NC Marriage Index, and her 1920 Death Certificate. The inconsistencies of these documents, with one or two exceptions, are where errors are typically found ... transcriptions, information provided by illiterate persons, and information provided by relatives after the person's death.
