110. Ns. Kristóf KRANAWETTER was born about 1680. He died on 30 August 1747 at the age of 67 in Sopron, Sopron m, HUN.¹⁸⁶ This death record may not be for Lord Kranawetter himself, it is possible it is for a young grandson. But, we know he was still living in 1742 when his wife died. The family name "Kranawetter" is derived from the name of a juniper tree found in the North Tyrol area of Austria, and is fairly common throughout that country. In the Sopron records, the name is initially spelled "Kranabetter" and later "Kranawetter." Several other variations are found, most notably replacing the "e" with an "ö" and the "b/w" with "v" and the first "a" with an "o" -- these are all typical sound-shifts found in Hungary in the 18th and 19th centuries. It appears that at least one earlier generation of this family lived in Sopron ... see MS Access database for other possible relatives.

This man is often referred to as simply "Dni. Kranawetter" -- Lord Kranawetter ("Dni" being the Latin abbreviation for "Domini"), but his precise position in the Sopron hierarchy is not known. In his son's baptismal record, his given name -- Christian in German -- is abbreviated to "Xtianos" in Latin. Though this was obviously a German family, standard Hungarian spelling of given names is used for consistency. Éva Maria ZALLATSIN and Ns. Kristóf KRANAWETTER were married about 1705.

111. Éva Maria ZALLATSIN was born about 1685. She died on 10 April 1742 at the age of 57 in Sopron, Sopron m, HUN.¹⁸⁷ She was identified as Éva Maria, wife of Lord Kronawetter. To date, we have only found her family name in one place -- when she served as a godparent in 1714. The name is marginally legible, but seems to be Zallatsin. The only similar name found in the Sopron RK records was the baptism of a son Georgius born to Michaelis Zallatzing and his wife Judith in 1693. These may be the parents of Éva Maria.
