| ii. | Mátyás GODINA was born in 1768 in Lehomér (Lemerje), Vas m, HUN. He died on 1 January 1835 at the age of 67 in Péterhegy (Gornji Petrovci), Vas m, HUN. He was a Lutheran pastor, writer, and teacher born in Lehomér (Lemerje), and his family were identified as "nemes" (gentry). He went to school in Surd, Somogy megye and later did his theological studies at the Sopron Lyceum. Upon completion of his studies he was ordained a pastor of the Lutheran Church. A few years after the Edict of Toleration of King Joseph II, the Lutheran congregation in Bodóhegy (Bodonci) was re-established with the construction of a wooden church building in 1792. The first pastor was István Smodis. Mátyás came to Bodonci as a teacher in 1793. When Smodis died in 1799, he took over as pastor and served there until 1821. From 1821 until his death he was the pastor of the Lutheran Church in Péterhegy (Gornji Petrovci). He is remembered for authoring church hymns, sermons, as school curricula. |
