Second Generation2. Miklos "Nick" DUTKA was born on 27 September 1890 in Lazonpatak (Podproc), Szepes m, HUN.2 He was baptized on September 28. His godparents were György Grajczár and his wife Ersébet. He died in July 1969 at the age of 78 in Johnstown, PA. He arrived aboard the SS Slavonia from Fiume on 17 Oct 1908 from Lazonpatak, in Szepes county in northern Hungary. This village is also known in German as Latzenbach and in Slovak as Podproc. The manifest states that he had a sister named Zsófia at home in Hungary and a sister Ilona in Johnstown, PA where he was destined. Also that he was 5' 7" tall, had brown eyes and hair, and a dark complexion. According to the 1930 US Census, he was 39 years old, had been married at age 20, came to the US from Czechoslovakia in 1908, and he lived in Brownstown, PA with his family, in a house they owned with a value of $4000. He was employed as a laborer in a steel mill. At the time, the oldest son Michael was also working at the mill. He put the following information on his 1942 Draft Registration card #U2967: 3. Zsófia "Sophie" POPOVICS was born on 4 April 1892 in Lazonpatak (Podproc), Szepes m, HUN.3 She was baptized on April 5. Her godparents were János Zemunevszky and his wife Anna Grajczár. She died on 25 September 1956 at the age of 64 in Johnstown, PA. According to the 1930 US Census, she was age 38, had been married since age 19, and came to the US in 1907 from Czechoslovakia.
