Seventh Generation120. Ferenc NAGY LÖRINCZ was born about 1700. Nagy is the most common Magyar name. This Nagy family were Lutherans living in the village of Szentivánfa in northern Vas county. In the 18th century, their name was usually given as Lörincz (spelled in various ways including Lörintz and Lörints). But, the family name was actually Nagy -- it appears that pseudonyms like Lörincz were used to distinguish between the many families in the area with the common name Nagy. These included the Nagy Sörös family, the Nagy Miklos family, and Nagy Mesterházi family who were one of the largest landowners in the area, so in their case "Mesterházi" was used as an apellation of nobility (ie. In addition to the records simply using "Nagy" or "Lörincz" on some occasions they give the name as "Nagy Lörincz" or "Nagy vulgo Lörincz" (meaning in Latin: "Nagy commonly called Lörincz") or alternatively "Nagy álit Lörincz" or "Nagy alias Lörincz" (meaning: "Nagy alias Lörincz" in Magyar and Latin respectively). In this database, the family name "Nagy Lörincz" is used for all descendants of this Ferenc, to distinguish them from other Nagy families in the database. Márianna KOVÁCS and Ferenc NAGY LÖRINCZ were married before 1730. 121. Márianna KOVÁCS was born (date unknown). In the 18th century, her common family name was often spelled Kováts. In one case, her given name was written Anna Mária. Children were:
