90. Capt. Daniel M. STOY was born on 3 May 1738 in England. He died on 11 January 1835 at the age of 96 in Stoystown, PA. He is buried at the Stoystown Lutheran cemetery. He may have served in the French and Indian War. In 1775-6 he served on the frontier in the 1st Rifle Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteers, under Capt. Wm. Thompson. Later, he was a Captain in George Washington's army, serving for a year before his discharge on Long Island in January 1778. In 1787, he moved his family west to what is now Somerset County. This was frontier country, where he kept food on the table by hunting, fishing, and a small garden plot. In 1796, he laid out town lots for Stoystown, and sold off his land to create the town. He was a Justice of the Peace, and served terms in the Pennsylvania General Assembly in 1809-10 and 1813. Sarah HIGGINS and Capt. Daniel M. STOY were married about 1759 in England. The couple came to America shortly after their marriage and settled at Conshohocken, PA (just north of Philadelphia) where there six children were born.

91. Sarah HIGGINS was born on 4 April 1737 in Scotland. She died on 31 October 1818 at the age of 81 in Stoystown, PA.
