Eighth Generation168. Charles TROCHON Sieur de La Ménardière was born on 12 August 1641 in Angers, Maine-et-Loire, FRA. He died on 16 February 1684 at the age of 42 in Nantes, Loire Atlantique, FRA. She was buried on February 18 at St. Nicolas in Nantes. During the 17th century the family were lawyers in Angers and gained noble perquisites ... Sieur was the equivalent of British knighthood and the title Sir. It was largely a mark of wealth and prestige ... they were not among the titled nobility such as "Count" or "Marquis". This Charles Trochon was a merchant and shipowner on the Quai de la Fosse in Nantes. The Trochon family is documented by a family website which indicates they are descended from Robert Trochon, who was treasurer of the Court of Normandy in 1343. But, because of the care and precision of his work, the overriding basis for the Trochon descendants is the work "Dossier généalogique de Charles Trochon" by Christian Cottignies. Specific references to that 47-page document are not provided. This document also provides bits-and-pieces concerning earlier Trochon generations. Marie BERTHOLET and Charles TROCHON Sieur de La Ménardière were married on 29 October 1665 in Nantes, Loire Atlantique, FRA. There were nine children of this marriage. 169. Marie BERTHOLET was born in 1643 in Angers, Maine-et-Loire, FRA. She died on 18 February 1722 at the age of 79 in Nantes, Loire Atlantique, FRA. Children were:
