140. Jesse ASH was born about 1763 in Virginia. He died in 1841 at the age of 78 in Northampton County, NC. He fathered many children, and probably had at least two wives.

141. Mary ROBERTS died after the 1850 US Census, probably in North Carolina. The 1850 US Census gives her age as 70, but this is almost certainly an exaggeration given that we know she bore her son Albert in 1830.

Albert ASH was born in July 1830 in Northampton County, NC. This is the birthdate he gave in the 1900 US Census. He died in 1902 at the age of 72 in Northampton County, NC. His probate documents are available in the Pierce-Edmonds archive. During the Civil War he served in the Union Army. He was a sergeant in the 14th battalion, U.S. Colored Heavy Artillery which was a unit recruited in North Carolina in 1864. In 1890, he filed for a Civil War "invalids pension." In the 1870 census, he was listed as a farmer in Rich Square, Northampton County, but owned no real estate. But, at his death in 1902 he owned about 200 acres in Rich Square which was divided among his heirs.
