First Generation


1. Dr. Leo Stephen LOOMIE Jr was born on 31 December 1916 in New York, NY. He was born at home, in the Harlem section of Manhattan. He died on 16 March 2003 at the age of 86 in New York, NY. He died at home of a sudden heart attack. A memorial service was conducted in New York City, and he was buried in Fairfield, CT beside his daughter Adrienne. He attended Fordham Prep and received his BA from Fordham University in 1938. He received his M.D. degree from Columbia University, College of Physicians and Surgeons in 1942, shortly after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. During the early part of the war, he did his internship and practiced medicine at the Brooklyn Naval Hospital. He served overseas on Okinawa during the last seven weeks of the fighting in 1945, and for a year after the end of the war.

He then began establishing his credentials as a pychoanalyst at Meninger Clinic in Topeka, KS. A few years later, he returned with his family to New York, where he went into private practice as a psychoanalyst. He continued his psychoanalytic practice in New York City, until shortly before his death.
