Seventh Generation76. Charles TROCHON Sieur de Loriére was born on 21 October 1684 in Nantes, Loire Atlantique, FRA. He was baptized at St. Nicolas Church in Nantes on 22 Oct 1684. He died on 29 September 1758 at the age of 73 in Nantes, Loire Atlantique, FRA. He was buried September 30 at St. Nicolas Church in Nantes. This Charles Trochon was an attorney and shipowner in Nantes. He engaged, from 1714 to 1754, in the slave trade between France, West Africa, and the French colonies of the Caribbean. For an account of this business, read pages 392-3 of Hugh Thomas' book "The Slave Trade" which describes the 1738 voyage of the 140-ton Affriquain, one of the slave ships owned by Trochon. He also served as a Consular Court Judge and an official in the household of the duc d'Orleans. He built the Trochon House at 17 Quai de la Fosse in Nantes in 1742. This neo-classical style mansion was designed by architect Pierre Rousseau, and was designated a historical site in 1926. Françoise BALLAN and Charles TROCHON Sieur de Loriére were married on 29 October 1712 in Rennes, Ille-et-Vilaine, FRA. The marriage banns were posted in Nantes on October 23. There were 16 children of this marriage, including four daughters who married noblemen, and Charles who carried on the family interests in Nantes and René who was a royal official in Saint Domingue. Only those children who lived to adulthood are listed here. See referenced document for additional detail. 77. Françoise BALLAN was born in 1696 in Rennes, Ille-et-Vilaine, FRA. She died on 14 September 1743 at the age of 47 in Nantes, Loire Atlantique, FRA. Children were:
