Twelfth Generation2048. Arp BRÜNING was born about 1510. He was "from the Geest." He died about 1580 at the age of 70 in Niederendermoor bei Scharmbeck, Hannover, GER. Our Brüning ancestors are descended from this man. In the records of early generations, the family's surname was usually spelled Brünjes, and occasionally Brünings or Brünies. The spelling of Brüning only came into common use in the first quarter of the 19th century when spelling became standardized in most of the western world. The early generations found here were researched by eminent German genealogist Marie Renken, whose late husband was a distant cousin. The early dates are estimates based on land records; more precise dating began with Scharmbeck church records which are available from 1675. The "Birth" and "death" dates associated with most Niederendermoor events are actually baptismal and burial dates from the registers of the Scharmbeck Evangelical Lutheran church. [Unknown] LAMMEKEN and Arp BRÜNING were married about 1535. At his marriage he took over control of Niederendermoor #5, where this family resided. 2049. [Unknown] LAMMEKEN was born about 1510 in Niederendermoor bei Scharmbeck, Hannover, GER. She was the daughter of Hinrich Lammekin (1470-1541) and his wife Gesche, who according to 1535 records of the Osterholz Abbey, was the feudal landholder ("Grundheer") of Niederendermoor #5. Niederendermoor (spelled Nedderendermoor in many early records) and Oberendermoor make up the village of Teufelsmoor which was established in 1185 by the Osterholz Abbey. Teufelsmoor lies just east of Scharmbeck, and is a part of the present-day city of Osterholz-Scharmbeck. Children were:
