Family Information Sheet

This unusual document is a transcription done in 1908 with all the birth and marriage information for a family -- in this case my great-grandparents and their three (then) grown children. The reason for the family requesting such a document is unknown. Producing this document involved gathering information from the registers of three different churchs. For more information on what's missing, see note below.

Top-of-Page Material.
  • At the upper left, the "municipal authority" and "district" are requested. The responses are Vas county, and Celldömölk (which is both a city and a district within Vas county) and a reference number "27.29/908."
  • "Értesités" means "information." So the top of the form reads: Information from the baptismal (birth), marriage, and death registers concerning the Gábor Berecz family living at house number [none given] in the village of Ostffyasszonyfa.

Actual Information (Boxed) - for each person listed.

  • Column 1 - Given and family names of the family members. Note that in the third row "Gyermekeik" means those listed below are "their children."
  • Column 2 - Year, month, and day of birth.
  • Column 3 - Year of marriage. Note that the full marriage date is given.
  • Column 4 - Religion (Vallás). Note that "ag. h. evang." is another abbreviation of Augsburg Confession Evangelical (ie. Lutheran). Ditto marks are used for all but the first person listed.
  • Column 5 - Occupation or other vocation. Note that "housewife" wasn't deserving of mention, since no entry was made for Sophie. Click to See Note.
  • Next Column (incorrectly numbered "4") -- If applicable, the year, month, and day of death. All these people were living at the time the transcriptions were done.

Bottom-of-Page Material. Six 1 Pengó tax stamps are cancelled by pen to preclude their reuse. The signature block below them is missing in the copy I possess. Presumably it is signed by either or both of the pastors from Ostffyasszonyfa and/or Csönge -- a nearby town where Ostffyasszonyfa baptisms were recorded during the period in question.
