| The Schumacher family are distant cousins of Joan Luhrs. They possibly first met aboard the SS Neptunia in 1952, when both families were traveling to Germany to visit relatives. Neither family have recollections of each other, but the children in both families were the same ages, so they probably played together aboard ship. At that time, they certainly didn't know they were related, and there was no subsequent known contact. Only 65 years later were they able to make the connection ... as a result of AncestryDNA testing. |
