First Generation

1. Rev. Johann Heinrich Christoph "Johannes" LILJE was born on 13 September 1833 in Gerdau, Hannover, GER. He was baptized on Sept 15 in Gerdau. He died on 23 September 1920 at the age of 87 in Ehlanzeni Mission, Natal, SAF. He was buried on Sept 25 in Hermannsburg, SAF. He attended the Hermannsburg Mission Society seminary as part of class 5, was ordained upon graduation, and traveled aboard the Candice to South Africa to take up his missionary assignment in 1867-8.
