22-Column Format with Attachment
The content of the 22 columns of the manifest itself are identical to the 1905 example above.
Content of Personal Description Attachment.
This attachment was probably used because the new 1907 manifest form, authorized only a month earlier, was not yet available. The instructions state: "This slip must be attached to the right side of each manifest of alien passengers ..." The columns are unnumbered. It requires the master of the vessel to provide the following information:
- HEIGHT -- feet and inches.
- COMPLEXION -- usually dark or fair.
- COLOR OF -- eyes and hair.
- IDENTIFYING MARKS -- typically none.
- BIRTHPLACE -- town name.
